Urgent Care

Nothing like a good ol' trip to the Urgent Care.
So yesterday afternoon I was in the middle of making spaghetti and decided to clean up the dirty dishes while I waited for the noodles to boil.
I was cleaning my cute, glass dish from Crate and Barrel and it broke in my hand!
This isn't the first time I've broken one of these bowls and last time, Mark sliced his hand on the glass when he was taking the trash out.
Needless to say, Mark told me "no more glass bowls."
Anyhow back to my sob story....

My finger was bleeding all over the place.
Mark said, "Uuuuuh, what do we do?"
Amy - "Well, let's call April. No scratch that, she's on a plane. Call Destin! Nope, he's on the plane with her. Hmmm..."
Mark - "I guess we can go to the Urgent Care here in town."
Amy - "Yeah, good idea. It's bleeding a lot" (I unwrapped it from the paper towels to take a look and almost passed out).
I could see the lumpy/fatty second layer of epidermis!!!!
Mark came over to take a look at it and said, "SERIOUSLY AMY?! It's like a 1/4 of an inch long...what is the Urgent Care going to do? Stitch your vein back together??? Just put a bandaid on it once it stops bleeding."
I gave him the please-have-mercy-on-my-sweet-soul/finger-and-don't-make-fun-of-me look.
Then we headed to the Urgent Care.

Once we got to the UC, the dude (yes, a surfer DUDE was the doctor's assistant...all he talked about was surfing on his break meanwhile I'm bleeding to death) unwrapped my pinky finger and said, "Oh, that little guy? Is there a cut further up on your finger too?"
I replied that there wasn't and I'm pretty sure Mark had to step out of the room because he was laughing so hard.
Don't worry about him - he brought his spaghetti dinner along with him to the UC and was eating it in the treatment room.
And don't even play like Mark didn't BOG everyone in the entire office.
The doctor finally came in there after the doctor's assistant's said to "Go wake the Doctor up from his coma."
The doctor treated my gash with much more respect than Mark or the surfer dude.
He said that it was very deep and needed 2 stitches.
2 stitches is legit people.
LEGIT.
He numbed my finger and stitched it right up!
Mark said after they numbed it he could've sworn the doctor opened up the gash a little bit so that he could fit 2 stitches in there.
I asked him to shut his face and keep eating his spaghetti.

They sent me on my way and told me not to get it wet.
So in true hypochondriac style, I'm taking showers and washing my dishes with a glove on with a rubber band around my wrist.
Don't worry - I'm still sucked into the Twilight books.
So this was just a short break to let you know I'm still alive.
With a minor injury of course.

The best part is how mark brought his spaghetti with him and kept eating.....right on. try that in a delivery room in a few years and let me know how it works out for you. I laughed out loud when I read this.

Personal favorite moment: the BOG's. Glad your finger is healing, sad you had to have stitches!! How were you even able to type?
