LaurieAnn

My wonderful cousin, LaurieAnn had joined the blogging world.
Now this means two things:
1.) Her name gets to come off my "List of people who I think should blog"
2.) You should read her blog because she is one of the funniest, coolest, most original people I know. And we share a shoe fetish so she's instantly cool.

So what does this mean for YOU?
It means you need to go read her blog HERE.
And if you need a little reminder of how cool LaurieAnn is...
Please go back and read/listen to my blog post on LaurieAnn's first sushi experience.
It will not disappoint.
And it has a video for all those out there that like to watch videos.

What would you be?

If I were a retail store...
I would be an Anthropologie.
What would you be?
I feel like every eclectic item in that store screams, "AMY!"
So...I'm interested.
Which store would you be?
What describes YOU?

Hiking again

Hiking might have become my new favorite thing to do.
I love to be outside and hiking you can set your own pace.
Now, this is no Half-Dome hike, but it was quite a serious hike for a Sunday afternoon.
I felt sorta bad for the 3rd couple we had with us.
They were visiting from Alabama and they didn't even have any hiking clothes (so they wore mine and Mark's).
I don't think they were expecting this sort of experience for the California visit.
Whoops.
Either way, we had lots of fun and April and Jordan's puppies came along too.
Cooper and Cali had to stay on the leash this time because they sort of run away.
This is a video (compliments of Mark) from when we reached the highest point.
There was a cross - that was our goal. To make it to the cross.
Funny, it seemed a lot closer than it really was.

April decided to put flowers in her hair along the hike...
And Jordan thought it would be really funny to hang Reina off the side of the mountain...

April Didn't think that was so funny.

Twitterific

So I've had a few inquiries about what Twitter is all about.
No, it's not something inappropriate, despite common belief that it is.
I am not an inappropriate type of person...anyhow.
Here is a little video to help you understand Twitter a little better:

My sister got me to sign up for Twitter, so I did.
Then I canceled my account.
Because it's cool and people are funnier on Twitter.
For those of you that STILL don't understand what Twitter is from the video...
Basically the "update your status" function on FaceBook, that's all Twitter is.
However if you have an iPhone or BlackBerry of any kind it's easier to keep up with your fellow Twitterer's.
You can add pictures and websites much easier.
AND as my good friend Jessica says, "People are just more daring and out there on Twitter."

St. Patrick's Day post (a day late)

So I forgot to post this yesterday.
So sorry.
I love Ireland and I would live there for the rest of my life if all my family were there.
I read an article on CNN's AC360 yesterday that said the party in Dublin was great and that probably 60% of the people celebrating on O'Connell Street were Americans.
(See, I was supposed to be there.)
Anyhow, happy-one-day-late-St. Pat's-Day!
Oh and my parents 30th anniversary was yesterday.
But I'd like to share a little video blog with you today instead of typing everything.
Enjoy.

Strange Children

Right, so  I don't have kids.
I have dogs.
But that's close enough for right now.
Here are some funny pictures of my strange children.

Cali sleeps in strange ways. Notice what is always nearby ... the tennis ball.
Sometimes she even falls asleep with the tennis ball in her mouth.
Cooper. Is he a cat or a dog? Loves to sit on Mark's shoulders.
He crawls up there himself.
Cali. Again, do I have dogs or cats?
Notice what's right beneath her on the couch?
Yep. That's right.

After a bath, Cooper got caught up in my grocery bag.
Whereupon I made fun of him and took pictures.
(Mom, I didn't really make fun of him.
It was a short laugh and then I freed him.)
So that's my random pet post for the day.

Come sail away

Lots of fun things in the San Diego Bay today.
Clearly a great day to go sailing!
Oh, and some have spotted a "lost" whale in the bay recently.
I'm keeping my eyes out for it!

Beach walks

I will certainly miss this one day.
What do you LOVE about where you live?

You never know...

Remember this guy?
Jason Castro from American Idol.
He has a very cool story.
A story of course they don't tell you on American Idol.
Listen to his story here.

And if you're really in the mood for a radical life change story...
He was the bassist for a heavy metal group named Korn.
One day his real estate agent gave him a verse to read,
Matthew 11:28:
"Come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest."
Wow.

It's official

The people have spoken.
amycathy.com it is!
New design to come soon...
But in the meantime, change your google reader to amycathy.com
Or for those non-google readers:
1.) you are missing out because google reader is wicked cool
2.) make sure you commit to memory the new address
3.) then go out and get someone to tell you how to set up google reader

And since I'm up for a little change/adventure, I think some other people should be too.
So I'm going to create a list of people whom I think should be blogging in place of the poll for my new blog address.
So why don't you go on over there and see if your name is up there.
The world needs to hear from people like YOU!
YOU are some of the funniest people I know and you will be surprised at the amount of funny stories you'll be able to share.
Your name only gets taken off once you've started a blog (or I find out you already have one and you've been holding out on me).

Toodles for now my friends!
Check back soon for a new design :)

I want YOU

This is the last time I promise to ask this.
I need for you to do me a little favor.
I need you to vote (on the left side of the blog) for which blog address you like best.
Now, all of you on google reader - love you, mean it...
Come on over here and vote for whichever one you like best!
No worries, all votes are anonymous.
And for those of you that don't know...Christen is my middle name.

6 a.m.

Phone conference meeting.
Let's just say I am NOT professionally dressed.
But I am present and accounted for.

"The board"

This is a true story.
A woman called 911 because she ordered Chicken McNuggets and the McDonalds ran out.
I kid you not.
Read about it here.
She called 911 THREE different times for them to have an officer sent out.
Call number 1 can be heard here.
Call number 2 can be heard here.
Call number 3 can be heard here.
Now, some people that read this blog know that if you've ever worked at a QSR (quick service restaurant), this is NORMAL.
We post things like this on "the board" in the back of the restaurant and laugh about them for months.
Stories like this lady from Florida make "the board"...so if you're having a bad day you can always go and read hilarious, real-life stories of funny people.
Some of our making "the board" stories you ask?

#5 Customer calls in to complain that "Bob" had given her the wrong size of nuggets through the drive thru. "Bob" was in Texas that unfortunate day, so it would have been impossible to give the wrong order.
#4 funniest of all time: The day a man commented that his carrot and raisin salad was "carbonated."
#3 funniest of all time: The man that said the "Jeebus music" was offensive to him. Operator said, "Excuse me sir? J-e-e-b-u-s music? I don't think we have that here."
#2 funniest of all time: The day a middle aged woman ordered polyester sauce with her strips.
#1 funniest moment of all time: Man hiding in the bushes near a QSR and called the police because he was a runaway from the law and didn't want to get caught, but wanted the police to know that he assaulted the QSR operator by throwing his biscuit at him.

Some of these people I would have gotten all Bon Qui Qui on...craziness.

Don't get me wrong, we had PLENTY of stories from funny comments that employees made also.
Today is just for customers.
Employees will be another post.

Amazon Bookmark

I need to do some reading for work.
So I order my books off Amazon.com.
(*Only in the 4th chapter of Serve God Save the Planet - but so far, highly recommend*)
And low and behold there is a bookmark for me!
Apparently the person that I bought this book from used her birthday card as a bookmark.
So free bookmark for Amy.

Thanks, Papaw!

Hiking

We went hiking last weekend as a family.
It was so great to be outside in the beautiful weather we've been having.
I know it's snowing back east and I bragged a little and said that I was laying out on the beach in 80 degree weather on Sunday.
So God sent me rain today. HAHA!
I think that was punishment enough.
Even though I love when it rains here.
Enjoy the pics and video!

(This is a video of the puppies jumping through the creek. They LOVE water!)

(I love how Mark doesn't remember where we are in this video. *Note scratching back of head*)

(In this video the grass was so high the pups had to "hop" through it. It was hilarious!)
